Can Snug Garden Rooms Be Used All Year Round?

 

The simple answer to this is a big YES!

 

All Snug garden rooms are designed and built for comfortable all-year-round use.

 

It’s all about the insulation;

We incorporate two layers of insulation into all our garden rooms, the first layer is built into the floor, walls, and roof structure, to simplify things we like to call this the ‘within’ insulation. The second insulation layer is placed over the floor, walls, and roof structure (under the floor and plasterboard) and as you may have guessed, we like to refer to this insulation layer as the ‘over’ insulation.

 

Ok, so that’s the ‘within’ and ‘over. insulation explained, now we’ll explain the insulation options a little more;

 

We offer two different types of within insulation and two types of over insulation;

 

Within insulation options;

1. 100 mineral wool.
2. 90mm PIR insulation.

90mm PIR insulation is approximately twice as insulating as 100mm mineral wool.

 

Over insulation options;

1. Single-layer bubble foil.
2. Multi-layer foil.

Multi-layer foil is at least twice as insulating as single layer bubble foil.

We’ve simplified the above insulation options into four simple packages for you to choose from;

 

‘Classic‘ insulation package;

Within insulation; 100mm mineral wool.

Over insulation; Single layer bubble foil.

 

‘Bronze‘ insulation package;

Within insulation; 100mm mineral wool.

Over insulation; Multi-layer foil.

 

‘Silver‘ insulation package;

Within insulation; 90mm PIR.

Over insulation; Single layer bubble foil.

 

‘Gold‘ insulation package;

Within insulation; 90mm PIR

Over insulation; Multi-layer foil.

 

Now you may ask, what are the real-world differences in the above packages?

 

We had a customer state that they have comfortably worked in a Snug garden room (insulated with the ‘classic’ package) at -2 degrees with the heater on a very low setting!

As an approximate guide, we advise that each package will help maintain a comfortable environment to the following temperatures;

 

Classic; +27/ -2

Bronze; +30/ -5

Silver; +35/ -7

Gold; +40/ -10

 

(All temperatures in degrees Celsius).

 

The heater supplied as part of the electrics package should provide a comfortable environment for each insulation package to the minus temperatures as stated above, however, please note that a portable air conditioning system may still be required to maintain a comfortable environment in extreme, hot weather.
